Blackjack Tips

As it is known, Blackjack doesn’t require much skills and it relies almost to your luck what kind of cards you will receive, but there are some basic strategies that can help you at least to save some money.

Do not forget, that as in any aspect of life the practice is the way to improve your skills. Reading from a book is not the most efficient way to become good player. The best way to learn blackjack is to sit down and actually play, whether it be for free online, or for real at a casino. Playing with “play” money can help you when you play for first time. Remember, that the free and real money games may seem the same but they actually are not. First of all, when you play for free you can risk as much as you want, but when your cash is involved, you have to be careful, because there the loss is real. You need to learn what it means to split or double down. Reading a book will give you a good base of knowledge, but you need to actually apply this knowledge.

You can start by learning the basic terms and betting sequences in blackjack. When you have a basic knowledge of the game, start playing for free. Once you decide to bet for real, start with very small bets so that you don’t blow your entire bankroll at once. As your bankroll increases, you can gradually increase your bets as you become more comfortable.

How To Play Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the casino games that are preferred to be played online. The rules are quite simple and the game is easy to learn. The game starts when you put your chips, representing the sum of your bet. Put the chips in your bet area on the table layout, which is usually indicated by a small circle or square directly in front of you. Placing a bet in this area indicates to the dealer that you want to participate in the upcoming “hand”.

The current hand begins when the dealer deals each player, and himself, two cards. The players’ cards are dealt face up. The dealer cards are – one face down (the “hole card”) and one face up. Then the dealer goes in a one-on-one game play with each player until they decide to stand or bust. Once all of the players have played their hands, the dealer flips over their hole card and stands if his two cards total 17 or more, or hits trying to get to 17 or more.

While you Play Blackjack you have several options. In order to make the necessary hand you can:

– Hit, which means to take another card.

– Double down – The player is allowed to double the bet on his first two cards and draw one additional card only to improve his hand.

– Split the pairs – If the player is dealt with two cards that are a pair, he may split them into two separate hands, bet the same amount on each and then play them separately.

– Surrender – The player gives up his first two cards and lose only one-half his original bet.

– Insurance – If the dealer’s up card is an ace, the player can take insurance. The insurance bet must not exceed one-half of his original bet. If the dealer’s down card is a 10 or any face card, the player wins 2 to 1.

Card Games

There are several groups of card games that are played not only at the casinos and card rooms but also at home. The general types of card games are Poker, Bridge, Euchre, Hearts, Rummy, Spades and Solitary. All of the games except the last one are played by more than two players.

Bridge – Four people play, as partners, two against two. Each partnership attempts to score points by making its bid, or by setting the opposing partnership’s bid. At the end of play, the side with the most points wins, and the difference in points between the two partnerships is the margin of victory.

Euchre – It is played with a 24 card deck consisting of 9’s, 10’s, jacks, queens, kings and aces. The dealer deals 5 cards to each of the players and leaves one card face up. The highest card in any trump is the Jack in that suit. The next highest card is the other Jack of the same color. Next follows Ace, King, Queen, 10, 9. The other Off suit cards go from the Ace -> 9.

Rummy – The game is played with two to four players. The number of deals or the target score needs to be agreed before beginning to play. The game is played with the standard 52 card deck, but here the Ace is the lowest card. The object of the game is to dispose of all the cards in your hand. There are three ways to get rid of cards – melding, laying off, and discarding.

Hearts – This is a trick taking game in which the object is to avoid winning tricks containing hearts. The queen of spades is also in the group of the cards that you must avoid. The game first appeared at the end of the nineteenth century and is now popular in various forms in many countries.

One of the main characteristics of the poker games is that there are betting rounds when the players wager in the way the hand they hold are forming.

Casino games – This group includes the games such as Blackjack and Baccarat.

Card Counting

Edward O. Thorpe through the use of computer trials, proved that certain cards were favorable to the player, and other cards favorable to the dealer in 1962. Hr mentioned that for first time in his book “Beat the Dealer”. According to his investigation, “depending” on what cards had been played, the player could determine what cards were left. The player had an advantage and could now raise the bet according to this, if more of the remaining cards favored the player. Good cards for the dealer are low-valued ones. This is because s/he must hit, if s/he has less than 17. Remember that by using this method in the game gives you a basic edge over the casinos, if it is implemented properly on a one deck game, but most casinos do not respect counters very much.

The card counting system works as following /the rule apply only for single deck games/:
– Start the count at -4 when the deck is shuffled.
– Count +1 for everything else (including aces)
– Count -2 for 10, J, Q, K
– Bet low when the count is negative, high when the count is positive.
– Take insurance when the count is positive.
